check out a lake of shallow water that has visible Lilly pads and tree branches or tree stumps .cast near these areas with minnows ,and enjoy fishing.

It depend on how big of catfish your going for. If the cats are about the same size as the bass than you should stick with mono. If you are fishing for big cats than you should try Suffix Performance Braid. I bought some to use for bass fishing in heavy cover but now I can catch big catfish as well.

I live in spokane, and my favorite place of all time is Courd A’lane ID and there is a really nice resort right on the beach, over there everything is walking distance and the lake is HUGE and they have cliffs to jump off, boats to rent, you can even go parasailing if you want, The temp is usually 80 to 90 degrees. i think you will love it there, its like 20 minutes outside of spokane! oh and they also have a big casino too!
